<image:caption>Also known as Egyptian clover, Berseem clover is an annual clover cultivated mostly in irrigated sub-tropical regions, and used as fodder, mainly for cattle and milk buffalo. It was an important winter crop in ancient Egypt, and was introduced into northern India in the early nineteenth century.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Also known as the Bee plant and Bee Bread because the blue purplish star shaped flower attracts bees all summer long. Throughout history Borage has been used to treat a multitude of ailments and to improve overall health. The Romans would mix Borage tea and wine prior to combat, most likely to fortify themselves for the battle.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Bee Meadow - Buckwheat</image:title>
<image:caption>Despite the name, buckwheat is not related to wheat, as it is not a grass. Instead, buckwheat is related to sorrel, knotweed, and rhubarb. Because its seeds are eaten, it is referred to as a pseudocereal. The nectar from buckwheat flower makes a dark-colored honey.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Bee Meadow - Calendula</image:title>
<image:caption>Peer-reviewed studies have consistently recognized the healing properties of calendula. Most notable is the anti-inflammatory action it has on "hot", red, irritated, and inflamed skin. Sometimes referred to as "poor man's saffron," calendula's golden-orange petals are edible, and the flower heads can be used as a fabric dye.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Also known as meridian fennel, or Persian cumin, Caraway is a biennial plant, native to western Asia, Europe and Northern Africa. Caraway is used in desserts, liquors, casseroles, Indian cuisine rice dishes such as pulao and biryani. Caraway is also used as a breath freshener and has a long tradition of medical uses, primarily for stomach complaints.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Bee Meadow - Chinese Mallow</image:title>
<image:caption>This plant is one of the earliest cited in recorded literature. Horace mentions it in reference to his own diet, which he describes as very simple: "As for me, olives, endives, and mallows provide sustenance". Lord Monboddo describes his translation of an ancient epigram that demonstrates Mallow was planted upon the graves of the ancients, stemming from the belief that the dead could feed on such perfect plants. Mallow leaves have been used in the traditional Austrian medicine internally as tea or externally as baths for treatment of disorders of the skin, gastrointestinal tract and respiratory tract.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Bee Meadow - Coriander</image:title>
<image:caption>Coriander, like many spices, contains antioxidants, which can delay or prevent the spoilage of food seasoned with this spice. Chemicals derived from coriander leaves were found to have antibacterial activity against Salmonella. It is also been documented as a traditional treatment for type 2 diabetes.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Bee Meadow - Corn Cockle</image:title>
<image:caption>Once abundant in cornfields throughout Britain and Ireland, corncockle appear to have originated around the Mediterranean, it is now widely naturalised outside this region probably introduced as a contaminant of grain at least as early as the Iron Age. It is considered an archaeophyte - a plant species which is non-native to a geographical region, but which was an introduced species in "ancient" times, rather than being a modern introduction. Those arriving after are called neophytes.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Bee Meadow - Cornflower</image:title>
<image:caption>In the past Cornflower often grew as a weed in crop fields, hence its name. It is now endangered in its native habitat by agricultural intensification, particularly over-use of herbicides, destroying its habitat. The cornflower is considered a beneficial weed, and its edible flower can be used to add colour to salads. In folklore, cornflowers were worn by young men in love; if the flower faded too quickly, it was taken as a sign that the man's love was not returned.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Bee Meadow - Dill</image:title>
<image:caption>Like Caraway, the fernlike leaves of dill are aromatic and are used to flavour many foods such as gravlax (cured salmon) and other fish dishes, borscht and other soups, as well as pickles (where the dill flower is sometimes used). In Anglo-Saxon England, as prescribed in Leechdoms, Wortcunning, and Starcraft of Early England, dill was used in many traditional medicines, including those against jaundice, headache, boils, lack of appetite, stomach problems, nausea, liver problems, and many other ills.</image:caption>

<image:caption>The bulb, foliage, and seeds of the fennel plant are widely used in many of the culinary traditions of the world. The small flowers of wild fennel are the most potent form of fennel, and are also the most expensive. Flies are rumored to be allergic to Fennel. Powdered Fennel is sometimes used to keep flies away from horses.</image:caption>

<image:caption>First cultivated in China, radish crops spread through the Northern Hemisphere and into Europe in the 1500s. Radishes had reached Massachusetts by 1629. Radishes are members of the Brassicaceae (mustard or cabbage) family. The root is related to kale, broccoli, cauliflower, and horseradish, among others.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Bee Meadow - Phacelia</image:title>
<image:caption>Phacelia is a versatile plant that is used extensively in Europe, both as a cover crop and as bee forage. It is also being increasingly used in California – especially in vineyards. Phacelia is quick to grow and flower and grows well in dry soil. It does a good job of limiting nitrate leaching when planted in early autumn. Phacelia is listed as one of the top 20 honey-producing flowers for honeybees and is also highly attractive to bumblebees and syrphid (hover) flies. Phacelia's habit of flowering abundantly and for a long period can increase beneficial insect numbers and diversity, because it provides high quality nectar and pollen.</image:caption>

<image:caption>Sainfoins have pale pink flowers, typically blooming between June and September and pollinated by honey bees and solitary bees.
